Am I doing something wrong? (re-read directions) nope. It’s shaky. I can see other review’s point on how the pin can become loose on the height and or tilt but, when I use it for my laptop I double check it first. It is very wobbly. Its annoying me. I am currently wobbling while reviewing! It also doesn’t slide under my couch, which is not the product’s fault, but is still a bummer for me. So, if you are going to get it– make sure your couch, chair, etc. has at least an inch clearance. If I can make this not wobble, I may prop the couch up an inch and see if that works. But, I got this for 19.99. If I can un-wobble it I think it is worth the money- I can still use it for food, and my toddler, etc. This table was purchased about 1 year ago from a local pharmacy. I use it primarily for my lap top and sometimes to eat on. Over time the vertical support leg’s bottom ‘pin’ shifts loose and the table leans. I do not permanently keep my lap top on this, only when in use which is maybe 1-2 hrs per day. It’s great otherwise although it does not fold up easily to store. Just my 2 cents….I got this for laptop use about a year ago at our local Walmart. Another reviewer mentioned one part coming loose and made the table lean. I might be lucky or the other reviewer got a bum table, but mine so far has not had any issues. It sitll looks and functions the same as when I got it. My laptop pretty much sits on it day in and day out. I have been happy with my purchase and I think I am going to buy another for my daughter. It will either be this on one or the Tablemate. read more.

How to Choose a Bankruptcy Lawyer

September 2nd, 2010

If you have bankruptcy looming, you may be tempted to go it alone. Sure, you are in dire financial straits, and the thought of hiring a lawyer at this time seems foolish. However, if you do not file the paperwork correctly, you will end up having your bankruptcy denied. It is far less of a risk to hire an expert to help you through the process. As you do, keep these tips in mind.

First, choose a bankruptcy lawyer with plenty of experience. Do not choose a lawyer with just experience practicing law, but rather find one with experience in bankruptcy law. Laws are constantly changing, so your lawyer needs to be working with them regularly. Also, an experienced bankruptcy attorney will have relationships with the local trustees and judges, which will help your cause.

Of course, you also want to look at the cost of the attorney. While lawyers in general are expensive, you do want to choose one with relatively affordable fees. With that being said, do not choose the cheapest lawyer. Most lawyers with a very low price tag are offering their services cheaply for a reason. Find one with reasonable fees compared to the competition.

Since you likely do not have money to pay a lawyer right now, look for one that will offer a payment plan. Make sure you can afford the payment, though, and that it does not stretch for too long of a period of time.

Find a lawyer that offers a free initial consultation. This will give you the chance to meet the attorney. Go to this meeting with questions about the bankruptcy process. If you feel comfortable, you have probably found a good attorney. Never choose a lawyer who makes you feel uncomfortable, no matter how good his credentials are. You will be working with this person on your own personal finances, so you need to be comfortable. Make sure that the lawyer gives you attention and does not make you feel rushed, within reason. You do not want him to be rushing through your paperwork as you file for bankruptcy, because even the slightest error could mean your application for bankruptcy protection is denied.

Finally, makes sure the lawyer offers a contract that you can understand. Never sign something unless you both understand and agree to it. The contract should tell you exactly what the lawyer will do, what guarantees the firm offers, and if any refunds will be made for an unsuccessful claim.

Why We Need Bankruptcy Lawyers

September 1st, 2010

Admitting that you have not been successful

The stigmatization of bankrupt people is no longer something that we can afford to tolerate as a society. The types of people who have had to endure bankruptcy have changed over the years and it is no longer fair to assume that anyone who accesses bankruptcy service is profligate or somehow immoral. Bankruptcy can reach the most law abiding citizens in the community and makes no distinction between the rich or the poor. We can them move on to assessing the merits of using the bankruptcy lawyer or attorney.

Minimizing the damage to your credit rating

Bankruptcy relies on the ability of the lender and the borrow to reach a certain understanding. This does not mean that the debt is ignored but it avoids some of the more fractious processes that bankruptcy can entail. The bankruptcy lawyer or attorney will be able to represent you and make sure that you are not being exploited by the bankruptcy process. They will also have plenty of knowledge of the industry so they can make sure that you get a good deal. I have to correct myself here because there is really no good deal in bankruptcy. All you get is a series of the next best alternative. In any case you stand a much better chance of getting away with if you use the bankruptcy lawyer or attorney.

When you agree to a bankruptcy agreement, your bankruptcy lawyer or attorney will ensure that you get a payment plan that is manageable within your financial means. They will also ensure that you understand the full implications of not meeting your obligations under this new arrangement. If they are really proactive about the job, the bankruptcy lawyer or attorney will also ensure that you keep up with the payments. If you feel that you do not have the discipline to do this then you can even ask your lawyer to keep an account from which they make the payments for you. That way there is no confusion and the other party retains confidence in the whole process.

Once the payment plan is agreed, the chances for the lender to take possession of the borrower’s property become severely restricted. Your bankruptcy lawyer or attorney will ensure that these conditions are not violated by overzealous lenders. In other words you legal team will continue to remain your champions throughout the process. They are also your sources of information if you have a particular query or wish to go over a certain detail that may have escaped real scrutiny. If you are going to go bankrupt, then it is better to do it in the right way.
